Mrs. LansdellI identifies and works with students (9-12) who are at-risk of not graduating with a regular high school diploma within four years.  Students may be behind in credits, having difficulty passing all 5 parts of the GHSGT, falling behind in their current classes, having poor attendance, or having personal problems that prevent them from doing their best at school.

Seniors planning at attend college out of the state of Georgia should see Mrs. Perry as soon as possible!!!

Seniors:   If you are planning to take a “College Day”, come by the guidance office and pick up the form for an excused absence.   This has to be completed and turned in for Mr. Ray’s approval at least 3 days before you plan to visit the college of your choice.

Must have at least a 3.0 GPA and community service involvement.  Requires a essay.

Geraldine Nixon
Freshman/Sophomore Counselor

Ms. Nixon
is primarily counselor for the ninth grade and the tenth grade students. She creates schedules for all incoming ninth grade students and evaluates all tenth and eleventh schedules. She meets with 9th, 10th, and 11th enrolling students to determine what is best for them at PHS. She also evaluates all incoming student transcripts. She creates and updates all the advisement folders at PHS. She meets with all High School 101 students, to reinforce the desire of making graduation in four years one of their major goals. Career Fairs, Health Fair, mandatory testing, and the Governors Honors Program are blended around the personal, academic, and career counseling. Parent conferences are always welcomed and promptly scheduled.

PerryTheresa Perry
Junior/Senior Counselor

Mrs. Perry coordinates junior and senior conferences and makes it a priority to meet individually with each senior and his/her parents or guardians to provide timely information concerning college or technical school, financial aid, and scholarships.  Conferences are scheduled through Mrs. Jean Sheffield, guidance secretary.  Small group conferences with juniors usually begin in January; however, parents are welcome to call for a personal conference when needed.  Academic, personal-social, and career guidance are provided in an on-going manner with any student and/or parent willing to take the time to schedule a conference.
